About Sunnyrock Woodworks

Meet Chris Gibson

Sunnyrock is helmed by Chris Gibson, a self-taught furniture maker and conservationist based on Walpole, MA. Chris creates hand crafted furniture designed for everyday use, balancing form and function. Influenced by Scandinavian, Japanese, and mid-century modern traditions, he focuses on clean lines, simple craftsmanship, and a deep respect for the natural material.

See Our Work

The Sunnyrock Mission

Each Sunnyrock piece is thoughtfully handcrafted from solid hardwoods, combining traditional joinery with modern techniques. No two items are the same - each one reflects the unique and natural beauty of wood.

Furniture from big box stores - made with low-quality materials - will eventually end up in a landfill. We aim to move away from disposable goods by designing heirloom-quality pieces that people are proud to own.

We love to give a second life to materials that would otherwise be discarded. Whenever possible, we use responsibly sourced or reclaimed lumber. Materials headed for the chipper - local trees and old church pews - are put back to use, honoring their history.

Our Process

Rooted in history. Protecting our future.

My studio is named in tribute to Sunnyrock Farm - the last working farm in Walpole. While the farm closed in 2012 after a century in operation, my studio carries on its legacy of hard work and respect for the land.

As part of that commitment, I donate a portion of profits to organizations that protect open space, including The Trustees, Mass Audubon, Adams Farm, New England Forestry Foundation, and One Tree Planted.
